Charlie Beckler Wins Young Georgia Authors Division

charlie becklerA Westwood School rising second grader is one of 13 students across the state who has won the 2014-15 Young Georgia Authors writing competition, an annual competition sponsored by the Georgia Department of Education and the Georgia Council of Teachers and English. Dalton Board of Education Votes to Suspend 6-12 Secondary Facilities Proposal

New logoThe Dalton Board of Education voted unanimously at its meeting on Monday night to suspend indefinitely a proposal for a 6-12 school for 1,400 students. As part of the decision, the board stated it intends to initiate a cooperative planning process with the Dalton City Council and other organizations to develop a plan for enrollment growth. Additionally, the Board and administration have challenged themselves to complete a new directive with success criteria as soon as possible, but no later than January 2016.
